My dryer had been making a loud noise for a few days. The technician who can out to fix it, Sam, was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose the issue quickly. I tried calling multiple companies before speaking with Elina who was very courteous and professional and scheduled the appointment same day. I will definitely use their service in the future if needed.

BlueStar builds cooking appliances to order in Pennsylvania, which is why no two installations look quite alike: open burners rated far above the domestic norm, cast-iron grates, and a made-to-order finish chosen at the time of purchase. The engineering is deliberately mechanical — fewer electronics, more serviceable hardware — and that shows in how these units age.
It also means a BlueStar rarely fails the way a mass-market range does. The faults we are called to are burner, igniter and oven-control problems, and they respond to a proper diagnosis rather than parts-swapping. SmartFix services BlueStar ranges, cooktops, wall ovens and hoods in Charlotte and the surrounding NC and SC cities. Because every unit is built to order, we read the exact configuration off the rating plate before ordering a part rather than assuming a standard specification.
SmartFix Appliance Repair is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorized by BlueStar or its parent companies, and we use the BlueStar name only to describe the appliances we service.
Common BlueStar faults we are called out for
These are the BlueStar complaints that come up most often on our Charlotte service calls. If yours is not on the list, describe it when you book — the technician diagnoses the appliance on site either way.
- Open burner lighting unevenly, or flame lifting away from the ports
- Igniter sparking without lighting the burner
- Oven not reaching temperature, or taking far longer than it used to
- Simmer burner running too hot to hold a low setting
- Oven thermostat or safety valve cutting the burner out mid-bake
- Grate or burner cap misalignment causing yellow, sooty flames
- Hood blower vibrating or losing extraction at high speed
BlueStar repair — frequently asked questions
Yes. We are an independent repair company based in Charlotte, NC, and we cover the city plus the 25 surrounding towns in North and South Carolina. You do not need a service contract or proof of purchase to book a visit — tell us the appliance and the symptom and we schedule a technician.
Often, yes — same-day service is available whenever a slot is still open in your area. Booking is online around the clock; you can also call (980) 332-2443 or text (980) 449-6638, which is text only, 24/7.
The technician diagnoses the appliance at your home, tells you which part has failed and what the repair will cost, and starts work only once you have agreed to that price. Our current promotion, $15 Off Labor, is applied to the labor part of the invoice.
Our vans carry the parts that fail most often — belts, pumps, valves, igniters, thermostats, door seals and the control boards we replace week in, week out. Anything less common is ordered from our suppliers and fitted on a return visit, and we confirm the part and the price with you before ordering it.
A yellow, lazy flame usually means the air-to-gas mixture is wrong or a burner port is blocked — commonly after a spill or a cleaning. It burns less efficiently and produces more soot, so it should be looked at rather than lived with. If you smell gas at any point, shut the supply off and call from outside the house.
Conversions are done with the manufacturer's own orifice kit for that model and only where the installation allows it. Tell us which fuel you are on when you book so the technician arrives with the right parts; if a conversion is not safe in your setup, we will say so rather than attempt it.
