What we repair on Amana appliances

Amana appliance brand logo
  • Refrigerator repair
  • Freezer repair
  • Washer repair
  • Dryer repair
  • Range repair
  • Oven repair
  • Dishwasher repair

Amana has been a fixture in American kitchens and laundry rooms for more than eight decades, and its reputation rests on plain durability rather than novelty. The line runs from top-load washers and electric dryers to refrigerators, ranges and dishwashers, most of them built around uncomplicated controls and parts that are still available years after purchase.

That longevity is exactly why we see so many of them: an Amana that has run daily since the last decade usually needs one worn component replaced, not replacing itself. SmartFix repairs Amana refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, ranges, ovens and dishwashers throughout Charlotte and the surrounding NC and SC cities, and the technician who arrives diagnoses the fault before quoting it. Most of what we replace on an Amana is a wear part — a drive belt, a water inlet valve, a thermostat, a defrost component — and those remain straightforward to source.

SmartFix Appliance Repair is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorized by Amana or its parent companies, and we use the Amana name only to describe the appliances we service.

  • Washer draining slowly or stopping mid-cycle with water still in the drum

My dryer had been making a loud noise for a few days. The technician who can out to fix it, Sam, was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose the issue quickly. I tried calling multiple companies before speaking with Elina who was very courteous and professional and scheduled the appointment same day. I will definitely use their service in the future if needed.

After fighting with GE to get the replacement motor because GE kept messing up, I finally got it yesterday and Nikolay came out today, put it on and was in and out super quickly! Amazing service! I will definitely be using you guys again if I need future services! 10/10 service, kindness, clear discussions about what was happening, easy to schedule, well priced and he left the room exactly as he found it! No mess left behind! Thank you so much!

Nikolay came out today. He is one of the guys that knows about 2 in 1 washer dryer combos(Remember; 2 in 1 machines are newer and very complicated). He was super nice when he came over, followed my call/text and no knock request, personable, knowledgeable, kind, and knows his stuff! I showed him a video I took so he could hear the noise it was making and he said it sounds like it could be the bearing and even showed me the parts diagram on how the machine worked which was cool! He opened up my machine and played around in there for just a few minutes and came to let me know excellent news! It wasn't the bearing after all(my husband had me listen to YouTube videos and it definitely sounded like the bearing to us)! It was the motor, which is cheaper to replace but then HE called GE and found out it was actually under warranty!!! I am THRILLED to say the least!

The whole team is wonderful to work with, sweet, kind and they went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable with the whole process, cost and they will be back once GE sends me a new motor!

-ORIGINAL REVIEW AT 4 STARS-
Sergei was super nice but because I have a 2 in 1 and the booking person likely isn't also doing repairs so doesn't know, these machines are new and don't come up often, he was unable to give repair pricing because the parts aren't available in their ordering system so he had to make calls to check on pricing, which I still haven't gotten, and was letting me know the repair could be upwards of $1400 for a bearing because of the labor that goes into it. He should be paid appropriately, I am NOT arguing that at all. But maybe the company needs to do some training on newer systems or at least tell the booking staff they aren't proficient in these machines so they don't book them rather than booking just to take the casing off the outside of the machine for $75.

Again, the booking person NOR the tech are at fault here. Its just a newer style of machine that needs to be brought up in their trainings.

I'm sure this company could do a good job if the techs were knowledgeable on the newer 2 in 1 machines

SmartFix appliance repair provided excellent service. Sergei Proshin arrived exactly within the time frame I was quoted to diagnos my washing machine that was stopping on the spin cycle as the drum would hit the sides of the washer violently due to a damaged suspension spring. He explained in detail why this was happening and what caused it. He then told me they would need to order the replacement part and would be back in two days to repair it. And that exactly what he did. He also answered questions I had about possibly getring a front load washer which tremendously helped me make the decision to switch or not. Needless to say, I decided to stay with my top loading washer because he explained how much more it would cost to fix a front loader washer. Sergei was very professional and had a great personality. My washer was fixed within the hour after he returned with the parts needed. I am extremely satisfied with his work and the very affordable price to fix the washing machine. Thank you SmartFix and Sergei. Keep up the great work and work ethic. I absolutely recommend SmartFix for any appliance repair before just going to get a new one.

I had an exceptional experience with Sergei from SmartFix Appliance Repair today. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and takes real pride in his work.

Sergei conducted a thorough, methodical diagnostic of my GE gas range and took the time to walk me through exactly what he was seeing. He didn’t just provide a quick surface-level assessment—he dug into the root cause, identified issues with the gas flow and internal components, and clearly explained both the technical problem and the potential risks in a way that was easy to understand.

What stood out most was his honesty and integrity. Rather than pushing for an expensive repair, Sergei gave a transparent recommendation that the unit should be replaced due to safety concerns and the likelihood of additional internal issues. That level of professionalism and customer-first mindset is rare.

He also provided a detailed write-up, cost breakdown, and clear next steps, which made it easy for me to escalate the issue with the manufacturer. His guidance gave me complete confidence in how to move forward.

On top of all that, Sergei was punctual, respectful of my home, and extremely easy to work with throughout the entire process.

If you’re looking for someone who is not only technically skilled but also honest, thorough, and genuinely looking out for your best interest, I highly recommend Sergei and SmartFix Appliance Repair. This is exactly how service should be done.

We had an emergency door repair as our Frigidaire Professional freezer door fell off today. They put me on an “emergency” list and came within 2 hours. I truly appreciate the text photo of the gentleman coming to fix my fridge. The repair guy (Alex) was excellent. He quickly assessed the issue, resolved the problem and put my door back on. We were back up and running within a couple of hours. I will keep this service in my repair folder. Professional and quick. Reasonable repair costs too! THANK YOU!

FAQ

Amana repair — frequently asked questions

Yes. We are an independent repair company based in Charlotte, NC, and we cover the city plus the 25 surrounding towns in North and South Carolina. You do not need a service contract or proof of purchase to book a visit — tell us the appliance and the symptom and we schedule a technician.

Often, yes — same-day service is available whenever a slot is still open in your area. Booking is online around the clock; you can also call (980) 332-2443 or text (980) 449-6638, which is text only, 24/7.

The technician diagnoses the appliance at your home, tells you which part has failed and what the repair will cost, and starts work only once you have agreed to that price. Our current promotion, $15 Off Labor, is applied to the labor part of the invoice.

Our vans carry the parts that fail most often — belts, pumps, valves, igniters, thermostats, door seals and the control boards we replace week in, week out. Anything less common is ordered from our suppliers and fitted on a return visit, and we confirm the part and the price with you before ordering it.

Yes. Amana laundry and refrigeration units are regularly worth repairing well past ten years, because the parts that fail — belts, pumps, thermostats, elements — are still obtainable. The technician tells you on site if a repair no longer makes economic sense, and you are free to decline it.

Usually it is one fault, not two. On most Amana top- and bottom-freezer designs a single sealed system and one air path serve both compartments, so a defrost failure, a blocked vent or a dead evaporator fan shows up as uneven cooling. It is a standard diagnosis and normally a single-visit repair.
